All right, so I'm going to use this demo site to illustrate the ability to do upsell, which happens before the user make a purchase. So suppose I have a product called the Intro to HIPAA, okay, it's for $5, okay, it can be free, right? The upsell process does not have to be triggered for a paid product, it can be a free product. But in my demonstration today, I will use the example that is paid. So I'm going to say if you want to buy it, I'm going to try to convince you to buy this one, just called HIPAA, it's for $20, right? So as my demonstration is going to illustrate, it doesn't matter how big of an upsell you want to go, you can try to upsell them to this course that is $150 if you want, right? But in my demonstration, when someone want to buy the Intro for $5, I'm going to try to upsell them to buy this one for $20. So that's the goal. All right, so how do I do that? So this browser is going to be the learner page, and this is going to be the admin page. So I'm just going to find the Intro, oh, I'm sorry, this is, one second, I'm looking at Intro to HIPAA for covered entity. There we go, this is the one. Okay, so the first thing I'm going to do is I am going to, and my demo here is assuming that there's only one price. If you have tier pricing, you actually work very similar, you just have to put in a couple prices, one for upsell for members, and another one for non-member. But in either case, I'm going to click on Manage Features, and I'm going to scroll down, and I'm going to, give me one second, there we go. I'm just going to check the box that says, has upsell upgrade option. So you have to turn it on, and as you probably are already familiar with OASIS, we try to keep the menu clean, but only give you options for the things you have selected. And now that I've selected it, I have this option called upsell upgrade option. Something's going to come over here, right? You can read a little bit of instruction just to get a sense of exactly what it does. But what I'm going to do is, I'm just going to say, hey, if the user is buying this, I'm going to upsell, not upgrade. You can check both, right? But let's just, I'm just going to do upsell, and I'm just going to do HIPAA, this one. And I can put in a little bit of information of why this should upgrade. So our HIPAA course has everything in the intro course, but has more content, right? So whatever you want to say, okay? So as you can already see, I could have multiple things to upgrade. So let's just do that, okay? I'm going to also upgrade them to this one right here. So this is our best seller, okay? Alrighty. So now I have set up two courses that can be potentially upsold when the user is looking at, I'm just going to go back, is looking at this course. All right. So I have set that up. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to log in. I have create account called John Smith. So I'm just going to log in as John Smith. And I'm going to try to buy this one for $5, okay? So I'm going to add to the shopping cart, and notice the user is being prompted to buy a more expensive product, right? Obviously, they can say maybe next time, right? But they can say, hey, you know what, based on whatever you said here, I think it's a good idea. I'm actually just going to buy this one. So you can see how you can have a webinar. Just for $10, and you can upsell them to buy, for example, like a bundle of all the webinars for maybe, you know, 50 bucks, right? So if I want to buy this instead, what happens is you can see the user's shopping cart has been changed. So and then the user will go through the normal purchase flow. So keep in mind, this mechanics would definitely work if you're using Oasis for your e-commerce. If you are not using Oasis for your e-commerce, definitely test it out to make sure that it doesn't break. It shouldn't, but depending on the e-commerce setup, sometimes your e-commerce site may not allow it. I will say there's going to be more problem when the user is doing an upgrade. Upsell typically do not have an issue. And then the user can just go through, they will pay the $19. Notice there is no discount, really. All we're saying is you're looking at product A, and I'm just going to ask you to buy product B. So I'm not really offering a discount, right? But what I'm going to do is I'm just going to quickly make the purchase, okay? And as you can see, now the user ends up paying a little bit more than what he initially intended. Thank you.
Video Summary
The video demonstrates a method for upselling products before a purchase. Using a demo site, the process involves promoting a higher-priced item when a user is about to buy a cheaper product. For example, when purchasing an "Intro to HIPAA" course for $5, users are encouraged to consider a $20 course instead. This is achieved through administrative settings that trigger an upsell option. The goal is to entice users to purchase a more expensive or bundled product. The demonstration highlights that this upsell mechanism works seamlessly within the e-commerce system, encouraging higher sales without offering a discount.
